step 3: Light and shadow
- Create a spotlight and rename it "KeyLight"
- On the attribute editor, scroll down to the shadows section and check Ray Trace Shadows
TIP: This light will be your control for the shadow of the object in the scene.
key Light set up
- Open render view and open your photograph that has both marshmallows so you can see what the shadow should look like.
- Create a plane and set it up under the cube so you can see the shadow
- Move your KeyLight to try and recreate the shadow size and position
- You can choose to "look through selected" under the panels menu in the viewport to help with the adjustments
- Under the Raytrace Shadow Attributes you can adjust the Light Radius and Shadow Rays settings to have more control over the shadow
TIPS:
- Light radius helps blur the shadow, while the shadow rays help reduce the noise
- You will need to add more lights later to help achieve a more realistic view
